By Capt. James A. Ridley, Sr., PAO

Rochester, NY – May 25, 2007.  Louis P. Fenech, III, a former Cadet Commander of the Col. Francis S. Gabreski Squadron in Patchogue NY graduated today from the Rochester Institute of Technology.  The day began with the school’s 10,000 plus graduates assembling with their families for the Academic Convocation presided over by the Institute’s President Albert Simone.  After his opening remarks and address to the graduates, Dr. Simone introduced the keynote speaker, President Bill Clinton.  The former President gave a compelling speech, challenging the graduates “to go out into the world and make a difference.”

Later in the day, each individual School of the Institute held its own separate graduation ceremony presenting diplomas to the eager graduates.  Former Cadet Captain Fenech accepted his Bachelor of Sciences diploma in Package Engineering from the College of Applied Sciences & Technology School’s Dean as his assembled family cheered him on.

After graduation, Louis will begin a career in Package Engineering having accepted a position with Kraft Foods in East Hanover NJ in their packaging department.

An RIT Education is definitely an accomplishment which takes hard work, good study skills and organization.  “CAP helped me become focused and organized”, Fenech stated, “It challenged me to grow as an individual and helped me when I got into college” he said.

When asked about his son’s accomplishment, current Gabreski Squadron Commander, Maj. Louis P. Fenech, Jr., said “We are really proud of Louis.  He worked hard to earn his degree from RIT and will be an asset to Kraft Foods.”
